Time to Fight!

Time to Fight!

My child, do not be confused. You are standing on the battlefield wondering whether or not you should go backwards or forward. My child, I have called you to be a victor. I have called you to stand set apart for my glory. My child, now is not the time for you to worry. Now is not the time for you to allow confusion to settle in.
Now is the time for you to realize that you are a warrior in my army and that it is time for you to pick up your weapon yet again and take down the enemy in your path.
It is time to wage war on my behalf, says the Lord. It's time for you to run with all the zeal, passion, compassion and anointing I have given you. For this is a crucial time my beloved. Do not be led astray by the wiles of the enemy or even by your own weariness.
Stand still and reach out to me. Let me give you the strength and power you need to run this race and fight this fight. Let me give you all that you need to win this battle in my name. All you have to do is to be willing, ready, and available. So run! Don't give up.
I love you and I have already equipped you. The fire burns deep inside of you. Shake the dust off your feet, and allow my Blood to take away the grime on your skin. Then, run with passion and run in my love, says the Lord.
This battle has already been won. Stand in my Blood, pick up your armor and your sword, and take down the kingdom of darkness. Amen.

THE SAINT Must WALK ALONE

THE SAINT Must WALK ALONE
by A.W. Tozer

Most of the world's great souls have been lonely. Loneliness
seems to be one price the saint must pay for his saintliness.

In the morning of the world (or should we say, in that strange
darkness that came soon after the dawn of man's creation), that
pious soul, Enoch, walked with God and was not, for God took
him; and while it is not stated in so many words, a fair inference
is that Enoch walked a path quite apart from his contemporaries.

Another lonely man was Noah who, of all the antediluvians, found
grace in the sight of God; and every shred of evidence points to
the aloneness of his life even while surrounded by his people.

Again, Abraham had Sarah and Lot, as well as many servants and
herdsmen, but who can read his story and the apostolic comment
upon it without sensing instantly that he was a man "whose soul
was alike a star and dwelt apart"? As far as we know not one word
did God ever speak to him in the company of men. Face down he
communed with his God, and the innate dignity of the man forbade
that he assume this posture in the presence of others. How sweet
and solemn was the scene that night of the sacrifice when he saw
the lamps of fire moving between the pieces of offering. There,
alone with a horror of great darkness upon him, he heard the voice
of God and knew that he was a man marked for divine favor.

Moses also was a man apart. While yet attached to the court of
Pharaoh he took long walks alone, and during one of these walks
while far removed from the crowds he saw an Egyptian and a
Hebrew fighting and came to the rescue of his countryman. After
the resultant break with Egypt he dwelt in almost complete
seclusion in the desert. There, while he watched his sheep alone,
the wonder of the burning bush appeared to him, and later on the
peak of Sinai he crouched alone to gaze in fascinated awe at the
Presence, partly hidden, partly disclosed, within the cloud and fire.

The prophets of pre-Christian times differed widely from each other,
but one mark they bore in common was their enforced loneliness.
They loved their people and gloried in the religion of the fathers, but
their loyalty to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and their
zeal for the welfare of the nation of Israel drove them away from the
crowd and into long periods of heaviness. "I am become a stranger
unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children," cried
one and unwittingly spoke for all the rest.

Most revealing of all is the sight of that One of whom Moses and
all the prophets did write, treading His lonely way to the cross. His
deep loneliness was unrelieved by the presence of the multitudes.

'Tis midnight, and on Olive's brow
      The star is dimmed that lately shone;
'Tis midnight; in the garden now,
      The suffering Savior prays alone.
'Tis midnight, and from all removed
      The Savior wrestles lone with fears;
E'en the disciple whom He loved
Heeds not his Master's grief and tears.
      - William B. Tappan

He died alone in the darkness hidden from the sight of mortal man
and no one saw Him when He arose triumphant and walked out of
the tomb, though many saw Him afterward and bore witness to
what they saw. There are some things too sacred for any eye but
God's to look upon. The curiosity, the clamor, the well-meant but
blundering effort to help can only hinder the waiting soul and make
unlikely if not impossible the communication of the secret
message of God to the worshiping heart.

Sometimes we react by a kind of religious reflex and repeat
dutifully the proper words and phrases even though they fail to
express our real feelings and lack the authenticity of personal
experience. Right now is such a time. A certain conventional
loyalty may lead some who hear this unfamiliar truth expressed for
the first time to say brightly, "Oh, I am never lonely. Christ said, 'I
will never leave you nor forsake you,' and 'Lo, I am with you always.'
How can I be lonely when Jesus is with me?"

Now I do not want to reflect on the sincerity of any Christian soul,
but this stock testimony is too neat to be real. It is obviously what
the speaker thinks should be true rather than what he has proved
to be true by the test of experience. This cheerful denial of
loneliness proves only that the speaker has never walked with God
without the support and encouragement afforded him by society.
The sense of companionship which he mistakenly attributes to the
presence of Christ may and probably does arise from the presence
of friendly people. Always remember: you cannot carry a cross in
company. Though a man were surrounded by a vast crowd, his
cross is his alone and his carrying of it marks him as a man apart.
Society has turned against him; otherwise he would have no cross.
No one is a friend to the man with a cross. "They all forsook Him,
and fled."

The pain of loneliness arises from the constitution of our nature.
God made us for each other. The desire for human companionship
is completely natural and right. The loneliness of the Christian
results from his walk with God in an ungodly world, a walk that
must often take him away from the fellowship of good Christians
as well as from that of the unregenerate world. His God-given
instincts cry out for companionship with others of his kind, others
who can understand his longings, his aspirations, his absorption in
the love of Christ; and because within his circle of friends there are
so few who share inner experiences, he is forced to walk alone.
The unsatisfied longings of the prophets for human understanding
caused them to cry out in their complaint, and even our Lord
Himself suffered in the same way.

The man who has passed on into the divine Presence in actual
inner experience will not find many who understand him. A certain
amount of social fellowship will of course be his as he mingles
with religious persons in the regular activities of the church, but
true spiritual fellowship will be hard to find. But he should not
expect things to be otherwise. After all he is a stranger and a
pilgrim, and the journey he takes is not on his feet but in his heart.
He walks with God in the garden of his own soul - and who but
God can walk there with him? He is of another spirit from the
multitudes that tread the courts of the Lord's house. He has seen
that of which they have only heard, and he walks among them
somewhat as Zacharias walked after his return from the altar when
the people whispered, "He has seen a vision."

The truly spiritual man is indeed something of an oddity. He lives
not for himself but to promote the interests of Another. He seeks
to persuade people to give all to his Lord and asks no portion or
share for himself. He delights not to be honored but to see his
Savior glorified in the eyes of men. His joy is to see his Lord
promoted and himself neglected. He finds few who care to talk
about that which is the supreme object of his interest, so he is
often silent and preoccupied in the midst of noisy religious
shoptalk. For this he earns the reputation of being dull and
overserious, so he is avoided and the gulf between him and
society widens. He searches for friends upon whose garments he
can detect the smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia out of the ivory
palaces, and finding few or none, he, like Mary of old, keeps these
things in his heart.

It is this very loneliness that throws him back upon God. "When
my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me
up." His inability to find human companionship drives him to seek
in God what he can find nowhere else. He learns in inner solitude
what he could not have learned in the crowd - that Christ is All in
All, that He is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification
and redemption, that in Him we have and possess life's summum
bonum.

Two things remain to be said. One, that the lonely man of whom
we speak is not a haughty man, nor is he the holier-than-thou,
austere saint so bitterly satirized in popular literature. He is likely
to feel that he is the least of all men and is sure to blame himself
for his very loneliness. He wants to share his feelings with others
and to open his heart to some like-minded soul who will
understand him, but the spiritual climate around him does not
encourage it, so he remains silent and tells his griefs to God alone.

The second thing is that the lonely saint is not the withdrawn man
who hardens himself against human suffering and spends his days
contemplating the heavens. Just the opposite is true. His
loneliness makes him sympathetic to the approach of the
brokenhearted and the fallen and the sin-bruised. Because he is
detached from the world, he is all the more able to help it. Meister
Eckhart taught his followers that if they should find themselves in
prayer and happen to remember that a poor widow needed food,
they should break off the prayer instantly and go care for the
widow. "God will not suffer you to lose anything by it," he told
them. "You can take up again in prayer where you left off and the
Lord will make it up to you." This is typical of the great mystics
and masters of the interior life from Paul to the present day.

The weakness of so many modern Christians is that they feel too
much at home in the world. In their effort to achieve restful
"adjustment" to unregenerate society they have lost their pilgrim
character and become an essential part of the very moral order
against which they are sent to protest. The world recognizes them
and accepts them for what they are. And this is the saddest thing
that can be said about them. They are not lonely, but neither are
they saints.

~(Tozer extract from his book: 'The Dwelling Place of God').

Welcome the Waves

Welcome the Waves

Although the waves seem so terrifying, do you not realize that they hold the power to carry you to where I need you to go my child? So often you look at your circumstances and you feel overwhelmed, yet you do not realize that I am using them to take you to the correct destination.
You do not have eyes to see or ears to hear and so I must bring about a change in perspective so that you can see things from my viewpoint. Then you will understand and gain the wisdom that you have needed. Then you will begin to gain the aspect that you have been missing all along.
So welcome the waves in your life. These forces that are pushing you here and there, for they are giving you eyes to see that you have not had before. Rejoice and praise me in these situations, for I have ordered your steps and I will not allow you to be utterly cast down! I will not allow you to trip and fall, but rather I will uphold you with my right hand and lead you safely through each change says the Lord.

A DIFFERENT "JESUS"

A DIFFERENT "JESUS"
by David Wilkerson

Scripture speaks again and again of the fear of God: "Fear the Lord
and depart from evil" (Proverbs 3:7). "The fear of the Lord is to hate
evil" (Proverbs 8:13). "In mercy and truth atonement is provided for
iniquity; and by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil" (Proverbs 16:6).

When there is no fear of God, people have to invent a gospel of
convenience.

The world has concocted a gospel in which there is no God and
therefore no heaven or hell. There is no afterlife, with nothing and
no one to answer to.

Where does Jesus figure into this gospel of convenience? He is
very much a part of it -- but it is another Jesus altogether! This
"different Jesus" is presented as the essence of human love, a
very tolerant person indeed. He embraces all religions,
accommodates same-sex marriage, and declares that there is
no such thing as good or evil. There are no sinners to this Jesus --
and so there is no mention of sin, not even deviant behavior. His
message is that you do not need to change because there is
nothing wrong with you. There simply is no judgment or wrath in him.

Paul called this "another gospel" (Galatians 1:6). And he warned
that those who preach it would "pervert the gospel of Christ"
(Galatians 1:7). As you might imagine, it is a seductive gospel,
appealing to many. And multitudes, especially young people, are
caught up in it. This explains why growing numbers of Christian
youth accept immoral behavior and same-sex marriage. Even
many evangelical churches are adopting this seductive gospel.
It is all happening just as Paul warned: "God will send them
strong delusion, that they should believe a lie" (2 Thessalonians
2:11).

Doing Flows from Being

Doing Flows from Being
“Put on the new man which was created
according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
EPHESIANS 4:24

What is the Christian Life? It is leaving our ground altogether and coming onto the ground of Christ. It is deeper than a changed life – it is an exchanged life. Over time we can accomplish a change, but we can do nothing to exchange our life for His Life. This, from start to finish, is God’s work, and it is a work of grace.

What, after all, is Righteousness? What is true Holiness? Christ is not righteous because He does righteous things; He does righteous things because He is Righteousness. Christ is not holy because He does holy things; He does holy things because He is Holiness. His “doing” flows out of His “being” – and OUR “doing” flows out of His “being” as well.

My Ways Are Not Your Ways

My Ways Are Not Your Ways

You might feel as though you don't know where you are going right now. You look behind you and in the sand you see a zigzag line. You look ahead and you see a path that is anything but straight. You feel like you have been here there and everywhere, but can't fully pinpoint what it is all about.
You are wondering whether the enemy has come in to distract you and take you out. My child, my ways are higher than your ways. My thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Do not analyze the path you have been on. Do not allow your mind to get in the way but place your trust in me and me alone, says the Lord.
For I know the road you need to walk and I know the goal I am trying to achieve in and through you. So don't doubt the path you are on, for this is of me. I am training you to be a mighty warrior fit for any terrain. I am training you to be someone whom I can send out as a secret weapon at any given time. So don't be afraid but run this race with joy.
Place your trust in me afresh and focus on what I am calling you to do each and every day. Focus on what I have put before you and run with fire, says the Lord.

The Offspring of Christ

The Offspring of Christ
(En EspaƱol)
Is this not the wonder and mystery, yes, and the very power of Christ's cross? In grief to the point of death, wounded in heart and soul, still He offered Himself for His executioners' sins. Without visible evidence of success, deemed a sinner and a fraud before man, yet He courageously held true to mercy. He let love attain its most glorious perfection as He uttered the immortal words, "Father, forgive them" (Luke 23:34).
Christ could have escaped. When the Romans came to arrest Him, He said, "Do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matt. 26:53). In less than a heartbeat, the skies would have been flooded with thousands of brilliant, warring angels. Yet, instead of condemning mankind, He rendered "Himself as a guilt offering" (Isa. 53:10, italics mine). Through Him mercy triumphed over judgment (James 2:13).
Jesus said, "He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also" (John 14:12). We assume He meant that we would work His miracles, and most certainly miracles are part of Christ's works. But Jesus did not limit His definition of "works" to the miraculous. All the works He did -- the redemptive life, the mercy cry, the identification with sinners, rendering Himself a guilt offering -- we will "do also" because He lives within us. We see that Isaiah 53 does not apply exclusively to Jesus; it also becomes the blueprint for Christ manifesting in and through us. Was this not part of His reward, that He would see His offspring (Isa. 53:10)? Beloved, we are the offspring of Christ!

Satisfied in Christ

Satisfied in Christ
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me
shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
JOHN 6:35

The Law of Life says that the presence of Christ within the believer results in spiritual satisfaction. If we have Him then we will never hunger or thirst again, because He is Infinite Supply.

Anything less than spiritual satisfaction indicates that there is a problem. I am not saying that one should be content with their progress and present knowledge of Christ so that they stop growing; but I am saying that no matter what stage of progress you may be at presently, Christ should be your satisfaction.

DEFENDING DAVID WILKERSON

DEFENDING DAVID WILKERSON
by Andrew Strom

Wilkerson is gone now, and it is easy to forget. But the fact is,
there were often many in the modern Charismatic movement who
basically opposed all that David Wilkerson stood for. They described
him as a "Doom and Gloom" merchant - always warning of what
was coming and calling the nation and the church to REPENTANCE.

I received an email from some U.S friends awhile ago who had
just gone back to a Pentecostal church after some years. They
told me, "If I bring up David Wilkerson, they all get a hateful,
angry look on their face." Isn't that terribly sad.

Even though David Wilkerson was the one man who consistently
warned America of cataclysms just like the ones we have seen,
he was still denigrated. Even though he was proved right, still they
detested him! I think it is because his major message was
"REPENT". And he didn't pussy-foot around like a lot of these
other so-called "prophets".

When the "God Wants You Rich" prosperity message began to
spread, David was one of the few leaders who publicly refuted it
and called the people to repent from the "love of money". Many
hated him for that. Especially because he is so direct and
up-front.

And when the 'Toronto Blessing' came along, with churches full
of the most weird and often ugly behaviour - he called it like it
was. He was one of the few (if any) Pentecostal leaders who
actually stood up publicly and refuted this new 'spirit' that was
invading the church. You can imagine how despised he was
for that.

There is a 'Prophetic' movement in the world today that is in
my opinion very far removed from the word 'Prophet'. It sells
truckloads of books and holds untold conferences, but at the
end of the day it is a mealy-mouthed travesty of the word
'Prophetic'. It retains its popularity because it is almost always
"positive" and up-lifting. The voice of an Amos or Jeremiah is
rarely (if ever) heard in its ranks - let alone a "John the Baptist".
It is almost never blunt or confrontational - especially about sin.

A lot of this movement has a chronic obsession with the 'religious
spirit'. Everywhere these people look all they can see are religious
spirits of legalism, pharisaism, etc. Thus they are always talking
about "grace, grace, grace". The words "Sin, Righteousness
and Judgement" are almost a horror to them, because they are
so fearful of being 'religious'. And thus when they come across
a prophet who actually preaches on Sin, Righteousness and
Judgement (-which are the very things Jesus said His Spirit
would CONVICT of), they reject him. Every true prophet that I
know of down through history has been a 'Sin, Righteousness
and Judgement' preacher. So has every true Revivalist. (Finney,
Wesley, Whitfield, Edwards, etc). It is part of the job description!

We have invented a new meaning for the term 'Prophetic' in
our day that is far below the standard of the Bible. And far
below the standard that must be in place to see a true Revival.
I think it was God's spokesman Ezekiel who coined the term
"pillow prophets". That is the last thing that America needs in
her hour of crisis. What is needed are voices who truly tell it like
it is - who WARN the people, no matter what the cost. -A 'clear
trumpet sound'.

David Wilkerson was just such a voice. And he was almost a
'lone' voice - though thank God he was widely heard. I believe
God placed him in New York deliberately - the city that
combines world political power with world financial power and
world media power. David was "God's man" in that city - I truly
believe this. And if he said that God's message to America
through these events was "REPENT" then personally I would
believe him rather than any mealy-mouthed 'prophet' who said
otherwise.

David hated sin and deception so much, and loved God and
the people so much, that he could not stand to be silent when
God's heart-truths were being trampled underfoot. That is the
mark of a true prophet. He will be sorely missed.

Blessings to all,

Andrew Strom.

Inconvenient Discipleship

Inconvenient Discipleship
“Most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 CORINTHIANS 12:9

All those who want power with God must see that His power is released through our weakness. Do realize that you are weak whether you admit it or not, but the power of humility is in recognizing and agreeing before God that we really can do nothing of our own selves.

God’s power is not for those with natural charisma, talent, leadership skills, education, training, or “connections.” God is not looking for volunteers to serve at their own convenience as their schedule permits, but calls for disciples who will lay down their lives. The flesh counts for nothing in spiritual matters.

No Mountains Can Stand Before You

No Mountains Can Stand Before You

My child when you look out ahead of you, the mountains before you are very real. They are giants that stand before you. Yet, remember who it is that created those mountains. I am greater than any power on earth. I am larger than life and with Me by your side, child, the mountains will melt like wax at your presence.
With one wind, I can blow down a tower and by my hands I can pluck you up and plant you in a new situation. So, lift your eyes up to Me and dwell on who I am. When you do, you will realize how much power you have yet to tap into. For indeed, I know the road that you must walk and Iƕve already made a plan to help you overcome each obstacle that may stand in your way.
All you need to do is to keep on walking forward, with your eyes steadfast on Me. Then when you come up against a roadblock, you will not have to fear because you will not be alone. I am by your side and together there is nothing that we cannot do. No mountains may stand in your way and nothing is so big that I cannot just blow it away with one breath. I am God and in Me, you will overcome many things and as you do, you will be made stronger and stronger with more wisdom and power than before.
So step forward boldly, with nothing to fear, for this is nothing that you cannot do without me. Amen.

"A NARROW WINDOW"

"A NARROW WINDOW" - LARRY STOCKSTILL's DREAM
by J. Lee Grady

Louisiana pastor Larry Stockstill had a disturbing dream last week.
He saw military trucks and armored vehicles getting in formation
for a surprise strike on an American city. Stockstill felt alarmed,
but when he tried to warn a pastor in his dream, the man ignored him.

"I knew in my dream that a siege was going to happen the next
day," Stockstill says. "The enemy was being positioned. But no
one would listen to me."

Stockstill, pastor of the 10,000-member Bethany World Prayer
Center in Baton Rouge, believes his dream was a prophetic
warning about the spiritual condition of our nation. While America
teeters near an economic and political precipice, many American
church leaders are going on with their business as usual-without
realizing that the church is in a state of serious moral crisis.

"I believe we are facing a window of opportunity for repentance,"
Stockstill says. "Unless the pastors wake up to avert judgment,
there will be judgment on America. If we don´t respond we are
going to lose this nation."

Stockstill became alarmed about the anemic condition of American
churches in 2006, when he had to step in and help bring discipline
to Ted Haggard, the Colorado pastor who was removed as senior
leader of New Life Church because of a moral failure. Stockstill
offered correction and oversight to Haggard and his family and
helped the leaders of New Life pick up the pieces after the scandal.
Many observers praised Stockstill for his level-headed leadership
and compassionate but strict adherence to biblical principles
during the crisis.

What Stockstill learned during that painful process became the
basis of a new book, "The Remnant: Restoring Integrity to
American Ministry". He hopes the message will trigger a movement
of holiness and integrity in the American church, which has
suffered a long string of embarrassing sexual and financial failures...

"We look like a sleaze bucket in the eyes of the nation," says the
54-year-old pastor, who has avoided the national spotlight during
most of his 33 years in ministry. Once a missionary in Africa,
Stockstill has focused most of his ministry on church planting and
missions. Bethany has helped start more than 17,000 churches
worldwide since 2000.

Stockstill says the level of dysfunction among American ministers
concerns him because their unhealthiness is then passed down to
their congregations. He sees five types of common dysfunction
among ministers today, especially in the independent charismatic
movement:

-Lack of fathering (no affirmation, encouragement or spiritual covering)
-Lack of correction (no accountability, resulting in pride and moral failure)
-Lack of fruitfulness (no training in evangelism and discipleship, preventing
churches from multiplying as they should)
-Lack of healing (many pastors suffer silently because of sins and addictions)
-Lack of teaching (many in ministry today are untaught, resulting in biblically
illiterate churches)...

"We really have to relay the foundations of ministry in this country,"
he says. "Many pastors have not been fathered, so they become
`posers´-they are just looking to impress people.´"

Pride, Stockstill says, is a primary reason why so many leaders in
the American church have fallen in recent years-including mature
spiritual fathers who had years of successful ministry behind them
but stumbled in their later years. "You look at leaders in the Bible
like Solomon, or like Samson, and you find that years of success
can lead a person into pride. And when pride comes, it brings a
lack of accountability," he explains...

"We don´t have a lot of time," Stockstill says, recalling again his
dream about impending danger. "We need a quick work of the Holy Spirit."

A Living Pillar

A Living Pillar

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar
in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more.”
REVELATION 3:12

Overcomers are pillars in the temple of God. It is not a question of how many times can we “attend” something, but whether or not we are abiding at all times. Pillars are an integral part of the structure; if they were to suddenly “go out,” the building would collapse.

What are we saying? That God’s highest is not for us to come in and to go out, but to be a pillar. Overcomers are pillars in the temple of God, and that is a heavenly matter. However you wish to interpret this, one thing is clear: they have learned how to minister to the Lord continually, regardless of time or place. It is Spirit and Truth worship the Father seeks, and they give Him what He is looking for. There is no holy day or sacred hour or special devotion. They do not have to “come into” the presence of the Lord because they LIVE IN the presence of the Lord continually. And so they overcome the earthly by abiding in the heavenly.

The Fragrance of Christ to God

There are qualities of heart that actually attract the pleasure of God. If we possess unoffendable faith in our pursuit of Christ's likeness; if we walk humbly with our God; if we position ourselves in the intercessor's gap; and if we abide in Christ-centered unity with the local body of Christ -- we will attract the pleasure of God, and when we awaken His pleasure, His power soon follows.

The Gift of Woundedness

The Gift of Woundedness
(En EspaƱol)
The world and all it contains was created for one purpose: to showcase the grandeur of God's Son. In Jesus, the nature of God is magnificently and perfectly revealed; He is the "express image" of God (Heb. 1:3 KJV). Yet to gaze upon Christ is also to see God's pattern for man. As we seek to be like Him, we discover that our need was created for His sufficiency. We also see that, once the redemptive nature of Christ begins to triumph in our lives, mercy begins to triumph in the world around us.
How will we recognize revival when it comes? Behold, here is the awakening we seek: men and women, young and old, all conformed to Jesus. When will revival begin? It starts the moment we say yes to becoming like Him; it spreads to others as Christ is revealed through us.
Yet to embrace Christ's attitude toward mercy is but a first step in our spiritual growth. The process of being truly conformed to Christ compels us into deeper degrees of transformation. Indeed, just as Jesus learned obedience through the things that He suffered (Heb. 5:8), so also must we. And it is here, even while we stand in intercession or service to God, that Christ gives us the gift of woundedness.

"Gift?" you ask. Yes, to be wounded in the service of mercy and, instead of closing our hearts, allow woundedness to crown love, is to release God's power in redemption. The steadfast prayer of the wounded intercessor holds great sway upon the heart of God.
I do not want to imply that there is a virtue found in punishing ourselves or resorting to "the severe treatment of the body" (Col. 2:23). What I am saying is that if we are going to walk the path of Christ, there will be times when we experience wounding and injustice. How we handle these times of offense can be a door to our destiny. You see, even after we come to Christ, we carry encoded within us preset limits concerning how far we will go for love, and how much we are willing to suffer for redemption. When God allows us to be wounded, He exposes those human boundaries and reveals what we lack of His nature.
The path narrows as we seek true transformation. Indeed, many Christians fall short of Christ's stature because they have been hurt and offended by people. They leave churches discouraged, vowing never again to serve or lead or contribute because, when they offered themselves, their gift was marred by unloving people. To be struck or rejected in the administration of our service can become a great offense to us, especially as we are waiting for, and even expecting, a reward for our good efforts.
Yet wounding is inevitable if we are following Christ. Jesus was both "marred" (Isa. 52:14) and "wounded" (Zech. 13:6), and if we are sincere in our pursuit of His nature, we will suffer as well. How else will love be perfected?
Let us beware. We either become Christlike and forgive the offenders or we will enter a type of spiritual time warp where we abide continually in the memory of our wounding. Like a systemic disease, the hurtful memories infect every aspect of our existence. In truth, apart from God, the wounding that life inflicts is incurable. God has decreed that only Christ in us can survive.
